Shiva is one of the Prime Hindu Deities and is known as one of the Heavenly ones amongst the world of Nightmares.
Shiva is allied with Ra and as such has sacrificed his old body in favor of a mechanical one. During the war of the Demi-Gods, Shiva stood as a prime general on Ra's side and oftentimes performed crowd control when the armies would prove too much.
Shiva can strike his drum to cause an Earthquake or summon the ground in many shapes to aid him in battle, In addition his feet possess an alchemical pneumatic piston that he can use whenever he lands a blow to completely disrupt the molecular structure of a creature, causing it to usually fall into it's basic building blocks. Using his Third eye, Shiva can forsee anything that will happen within the next 10 seconds and can utilize it to fire a searing beam of energy at his opponents. The 5 snakes integrated into his back each possess a deadly ion cannon as well as a magically enhanced poison that can even cripple other Demi-Gods and powerful demons alike. Finally, his Mighty Trident can pierce through nearly any material and regardless of where he left it, Shiva can summon it to him in an instant.
Formerly a God of good and kindness, Ra completely took away his personality when he reformatted him into a machine and instead Shiva is now simply an engine of destruction.
It is believed that Shiva's consciousness is trapped somewhere in the deepest chambers of Heaven, and others even believe that Ra has it locked away in the Ark of the Covenant.
Since his initial transformation, Shiva has been given an additional set of arms allowing him to be far more dangerous on the battlefield.
Shiva was an interesting one to design. I originally had him set as Heaven Bound, instead of Heavenly, however the idea of a robot version of Shiva (Venture Brothers didn't help.. "MECHA SHIVA!! MECHA SHIVA!!") Was too good to pass up. Hopefully he'll get his consciousness back and be a hero again
Hmm... It's interesting, even if it's a deviation from the classical myths about Shiva. From what I understood in class, Shiva was more a destroyer in the standard "descrution is part of creation" bit of many mythologies. Supposedly he spends most of his existance meditating on a mountain top (I forget which one), mainly because once he wakes up, OUR version of the world goes bye-bye. ^_^;; And he's also supposed to have a couple of kids, including Ganesha, the Hindu god with the head of an elephant (there's a funny story behind that too... [link] )
... But I have to admit, the backstory here makes me a bit sad. "Classic" Shiva tends to embody a lot of positive qualities, while Ra has turned this version into a mindless war machine. That's pretty disheartening stuff.
Yes it is, quite a bit actually, I did transfer the usual story of him destroying the world by crushing it beneath his feet with his molecular disrupting kicks and what not. And I'm still debating on whether or not I'm going to include Ganesha or not since I have always enjoyed him but dunno if I can fit him into the story or not.
Yeah, Ra is constantly trying to "Convert" people or force them into working his way or working for him if he fears they could one day be more powerful than him. However, after the mechanization process his mind was removed, however if someone finds it they can revert him to his other, more Holy self.
Hmm... Well, I think the classic pose is for that sort of thing is for him to be dancing ontop of the figure of Ignorance while surrounded by a halo of fire... Heck, there's even a name for that pose: [link] I'm betting your version of Ganesha would be interesting, though. Maybe you could just use him as a pratice piece, then decided whether or not to insert him into the story later..? It would hardly be the first time an authour/artist has done such things.
Yeeeeaaah... About that, I don't see Shiva being too happy with Ra backstabbing him and imprisioning his mind, while using the newly mechanized body as a killing tool in the meantime. Ever notice how a lot of villains tend to dig their own graves doing stuff like that? I think TVtropes calls that pattern "Totalitarian Utilitarian" [link] , or something similar to that.
Ahh yeah, you're quite right, I completely forgot there was a name for that, XD. And actually I have decided to include him, as a heroic figure trying to save Shiva from his current fate.
No, not at all! lol, Ra is very much the type to do that, he often times causes so much trouble and earns so many enemies that you know that there has to be entire armies out there that want him dead. The only reason he isn't is because Ra's power in this story is complete immunity to all magic.
FIRING ALL WEAPON SYSTEMS.
*thousands of explosions*
that's what happened in my brain when i saw this, keep up the good work

Immune to magic? Sounds like someone needs to perform a colony drop on the sucker, then... That, or a significantly large mountain might do the trick.
